Memories of winter

Celica says:

No, I don't like winter because I can't get outside and do my tour of the yard. This is why....
It's not really a lot of snow this time, but it's sure cold on the toes.

FIRE!

Celica says:

YES! And I love it.

The slaves have been having cosy fires in their fireplace recently because it's so cold outside. And it turns out that fires aren't scary at all! I love lying down in front of the fireplace and being so warm.

I'm back!!!!

Celica says:

My slaves really dropped the ball on my blog (and I didn't chase it either). The other day, my man slave reminded my lady slave that my blog was languishing ... unloved and unread. She had forgotten all about it!!!!
She apologized and said she'd try to do something about it right away.

So she's been stalking me for some pictures.

She lets me out the front door now and then. I like to sniff the woodpile to see who has come by lately.

But I come back really fast and here I am wanting back in ... NOW!

Cottage time

Celica says:

Well, here I am back at the cottage.

What have I been doing?

Well, I have managed to do some hunting. Those chippies are fast!

I try to be patient and wait for the chippie to come down, but somehow they disappear.

My slaves tracked this one to a little tree where it was filling its pouches with some berries.

Oh well. It was tiring work, so I had a little snack ...

... and then a snooze on the porch.

Vacation!!!

Celica says:

I went on vacation!

The slaves decided to go on a trip and they had to take an airplane and couldn't take me. I probably wouldn't have liked that much anyway. So they found a nice place for me to stay where I would have a vacation too.

I checked in at the Pussycat Hotel. It's a beautiful spot in the country.

Here's my room.

I had a  window with morning sunshine. I could perch up there and watch the birds outside. I had a comfy bed and a big post to scratch on.

The best part was the great care from Judy and Ian. They fed me and the other guests, kept our litter clean,  made sure we played nicely together - and played with us too. Here's Judy with Percy and Stewy.
The hotel is really a home away from home. It has a table and chairs, couches and recliners, just like I'm used to. And of course "cat furniture" too. Oh, and a TV that plays really good movies for us, featuring birds and fish and stuff.
I had a good time and made lots of friends. But I was pretty glad to go home too.

A cold spring

Celica says:

They tell me it's spring now, but it still looks like winter to me. I still have my pathways in the snow out in the back yard.

I want grass!!!!

And the front yard looks like winter too.

Not an angel

Celica says:

The cat next door is named Angel. Well, I can tell you, she is no angel. She hisses and scratches my slaves. In fact, she bit my man slave one time and he had to get shots!!! And I know what "shots" are like. Not nice.

So I watch the front door a lot, just to make sure she's not there.

And of course, over she comes!!! She pounds on the window and I pound on my side. And I tell her to "GO AWAY!!! It's MY house!!!!!

Dental work

Celica says:

It's taken awhile to get over this spring's trauma. I had to have a tooth removed!!!!

But first, it was off to Alta Vista

for a test to find out if I have heart disease. Dr. de Madron concluded that I have a "soft" heart murmur - nothing to be worried about.

So then it was off to Barrhaven

where Dr. Gordon described what had to happen to my tooth. It was a canine tooth and it was infected. It had broken a very long time ago, and finally it was time for it to go.

Needless to say, I was none too pleased, but everybody was so nice, and I survived.

Blue Ray

Celica says:

This past summer a big blue boat was parked at my cottage most of the time. Its name is Blue Ray. I decided that I should be its caretaker, so every day I demanded to be let out to do my boat check.

OK, update. The big blue boat has been at the cottage for 2 years now. And it looks like this coming summer will be no different.
(This post got stuck in the drafts folder and I didn't know it. Blogger can be weird.)

A-WALL

Well, now she's done it twice - in one week!

She manages to jump the fence and goes into the neighbour's yard. And that yard is padlocked, so we can't get her back easily.

Luckily said neighbour has a ladder outside, so picture a white-haired lady climbing up a ladder on one side, and then down another ladder on the other side.

Celica seems to find this very amusing. She leads me a merry chase once I'm in the yard with her. She hides under the deck and I think I can hear her chuckling to herself.

Ahoy Mate!

Celica says:

Back last fall, the slaves thought it would be fun to put me in their boat. They have a sad little boat that has been used for many things over its long life - mostly for fishing I think. Anyway, now it's only used for the slaves to row around the bay when they take pictures. They keep telling me I would like it.
I don't think so!!!

But I did let them put me in it as long as no water was involved.

I was patient, but then I saw another chipmunk and I had to get out....

Gotcha!

Well, she finally caught one. The little chippie never had a chance.
You can just see his little leg and tail hanging out of her mouth.

But not to worry. She dropped him and off he went to taunt her another day.

Summer is fun

Celica says:

When summer comes, we go to the cottage and I get to hunt outside. The slaves watch pretty closely, and that's how they can take pictures.

At the back of the cottage they are making a rock garden and a chipmunk lives there. Here I am stalking the little rodent.

Sometimes we call a truce and pretend we're ignoring each other.

Winter is boring

Celica says:

Winter is almost over. I'm so glad. It's boring.

Here are some pictures of me trying to find something interesting to do in the snow.

HAPPY SPRING

Celica says:

It's spring!!!!

Going outside is so much more fun in the spring.

The slaves will be relieved - I might stop getting into so much mischief inside if I can go outside and have fun more often.

Boats

Celica says:
This past summer a big blue boat was parked at my cottage most of the time. Its name is Blue Ray. I decided that I should be its caretaker, so every day I demanded to be let out to do my boat check. Do you see me? I'm in every picture right up by the windshield.

Thinking outside the box

Celica says:

No, I never do that. I'm always inside my box. Well almost all of me is inside the box. Sometimes my tail or my foot hangs out.

I love boxes. My slaves say I was probably born in a box, but I don't know. I don't remember being born.

Sometimes my boxes get a bit worn out and so the slaves have to go and get a new one. This is one of the new ones they got me this summer.

My friend ... or maybe not?

Celica says:

A visitor cat has started to come up on our deck. He looks in the window and pounds on it with his paws.

My slaves call him my "boyfriend." I don't know what a boyfriend is.

I don't think I want him on my deck.

OOPS!!!

Celica says:

Well, I fell off the deck ... but I'm OK. Really. I landed on my feet.

My slaves were really worried. My lady slave let me out on the deck and instead of staying put like I used to do, I put my head through the railing to see if it fit. Yup, it still fit. So then I stepped through so I could walk on the outside edge (like I've been wanting to do), but the edge was too small. I tried to grab on but the deck was too slippery - it IS this plastic stuff after all.

So down I went.

The slaves looked me all over and I just wandered off to find something else to do.

Told ya ... I'm fine.

The dog house!

Celica says:
Yes, that's where I've been for the past couple of days. I climbed up on my lady slave's desk in her office. Then I nudged her clock a little bit and it fell off the shelf ... and ... well, it broke. She wasn't happy.

I think she's forgiven me now though. She gave me a nice brushing awhile ago. Feels so good....
